not going to lie, i'm kind of surprised that the game has got enougth attention for what it is. they don't pull the Fire Emblem NES translation physical release BS w/a digital code as a limited-time release, yet it actually appeared in a direct (despite having its release date known for months). think the big thing everyone's just thinking "can you just do a NES/SNES remix?". at the very baseline, i'd just assume that Nintendo themselves was pretty hands-off with its development, but at least gives it more focus due to using established IPs. wonder if its an ashcan game produced to eat up lower-capacity switch cart parts.

i might keep my CE sealed to increase it's value down the Line. nothing wrong in making a bit of extra cash.

EVEN the NSO version of 4 Swords is still UNPLAYABLE IN SINGLE PLAYER mode so I still won't be able to PLAY IT I still own a GBA copy of Link to the Past to play 4 swords though I still can''t.

It'll be announced in 25, cos they don't wanna damage Christmas holiday sales. It'll either be another switch, or It'll be TWO consoles - another handheld, and a ps5 beater. I state this latter option, cos of Nintendos form for original thinking. What i REALLY want, is a Sega Next console!!!

I remember reading about all the dreamcast updates on a fan site. Just the idea of the city being covered in snow for an update blew my mind at the time.

Really not sure what people are seeing that makes them think this is such a graphical step up from Remastered. It looks good, but most of what they showed was in cramped spaces or corridors. Definitely still looks like a Switch game. People have also got it backwards in terms of thinking that this game builds on Remastered, when what's more likely is that Remastered was developed with the tech that they crafted for MP4.

One thing I'd want to know is that if this game takes place Chronologically after Super Metroid, why they would have Samus using the Gunship from Prime 3 over the one in Super Metroid, that never got Destroyed or Damaged by the End of that Game? Sure it's meant to be a Prime-Series Title, but without a decent reason to Switch Ships Samus would probably be using her Personal Gunship over a Loaner from the Federation...

I had a friend as a kid who also had LttP on GBA, so we spent a weekend completing Four Swords together and getting 10 medals each. I still have that cart and regularly replay it. I've got my 100% plus extras run to around 8 hours.

I've bought 5 switch consoles since its 2017 release. 2 Originals and 3 lite versions. Crazy. 😅 PSP is an all time classic by the way. Another of my favourite systems.

I played this on DSi a couple years ago, and I too had to get a save file from some guy to play the extra content for ALTTP. I like to think all the Zelda games are just refining mechanics for the eventual sequel to Marvelous: Another Treasure Island 😂

Maybe it's because I had potato laptop back in the days, so when they pushing high fidelity graphic back in the early ps4 era, I must admit I'm a bit jealous, but when I take a sneak peek of the gameplay of said games, it has the most boring cookie cutter gameplay ever, so I don't feel that I missing much not playing these high fidelity games. EDIT : Yo, TMS and Hidari mentioned! Although I had experienced Hidari's artstyles first time from Atelier Dusk series, at first I didn't like it since it's too "flat and plain" compared to other Atelier series (can you blame me though, I myself starts from Ryza 1 and going through the series backward from Mysterious series, so Toridamono and NOCO design left quite an impression on me), but as I played through the Dusk series, Hidari's "plain" design actually stands out the most compared to Toridamono, NOCO and Yuugen designs.

I am in the same boat - never could play Four Swords because freinds didn't have the game. I also got Tri-Force Heroes and tried to play with friends single-card style on my many 3DS units, but it didn't really work all that well for some reason. I do agree though, that when played properly (and working), it's actually great! So is Federation Force, though I never had anyone to play with on that either.

On Twitter Selecta Play International announced a limited 5th anniversary edition release of this game. Physical disc, manual, steelbook, double CD soundtrack, etc.

I never had the chances to do the riddles back then but I did get to play Four Swords in 2 player mode with a friend back in high school and do the Palace of Four Swords.

You can use magic powder on the statues you get from the riddles.

IDK.. I doubt console gaming will ever be PS2era-big again. It's unlikely any console will ever sell as well or surpass the PS2 and DS. PC gaming is a thing now Plus, Switch sales have dropped 69% (nice) since they announced their next console

Triforce heroes is amazing played with friends. Its just awful single player. Like really really bad. But 3 player its possibly the best of all the multiplayer zeldas

Regarding the hot take on Tri Force Heroes, I'm sure it's great to play *if you do it locally.* My two biggest issues were the shared health and online play. Online play is the most consistent way to play it multiplayer for many people which would be okay but it being paired with the shared health makes it just... not fun. For starters, trolls. I frequently encountered people who would intentionally sabotage the group. Like trying to throw you off a cliff or intentionally getting hit by that one Wallmaster Challenge mechanic that kills you in one hit. But also new players. And this isn't me getting mad at the new players! The shared health mechanic amplifies potential issues like the trolls as mentioned above. If one person is new to the game and they keep getting chipped away, the entire team is dragged down with them and I think that undermines the comradery because a more experienced player can't help as much by trying to defend them so they can conserve health or revive them, etc. I can handle a new player and I am willing to HELP them but without any real voice chat to pass info on to them to help them learn, it's really up to them to trial and error things out a bit while you do those little emotes. But all the while, they may be getting chipped away by hazards... and the health issue REALLY comes to light when battling enemies. I really think Four Swords Adventures got it right where you would revive with a timer if others were left standing but if everyone fell during that time, each player would consume a fairy to revive. It was more forgiving for less players but if all players go down, your group really messed up so the cost was higher. And it goes without saying this was MY experience. The health issue was absolutely my main gripe with the game and it reduced the overall fun I was having down to just frustration most of the time. My blacklist was way longer than I expected it to be due to trolls... and I am certain I was blacklisted more than once due to messing up while learning the ropes of the game and dragging down the entire team's health. And honestly, I don't like having to go onto random forums/discord servers to try and find reasonable people to play with. That's a pain. And my one nitpick is the material system they had. As someone who likes to 100% complete games, I hated it.

I've been getting into some multiplayer GBA games lately, as I've recently acquired pretty much everything I need for it, 4 GBAs, 3 link cables, my collection of GBA games, and 3 flash carts, just need to get a regular group together.

A real shame this stuff was locked behind 4 swords and even bigger shame they didn't just unlock them for switch? We got the fusion gallery in zero mission? So its not out of there power

One of my biggest pet peeves on the internet is people who whine about framerates as if that's all there is to a game. A game can have a fantastic story, stylized art, and be fun to play and they'll throw a fit about it ONLY being a stable 30fps and therefore literally unplayable. Honestly if no one ever mentioned that Paper Mario was 30fps, most of the people who complained about it wouldn't even realize. Is 60 better than 30? Yes. Is 120 better than 60? Of course. But as long as the framerate is stable, it's not an issue in my opinion. I just don't ever want to notice it dipping. And if a developer locks at 30fps to prevent that, I'm all for it.

Even if it does outsell it, PS2 for it's time had better games. Switch does well at family gaming and making things accessibility to those who are casual. I know people who own Switches who never really play it but just wanted to try it out once, so that audience contributes a lot.

I 1000% agree with this!! Stylized and well-implemented graphics > realism. Been playing a lot of retro games recently and really enjoying some of the filters available on retroarch. Been surprised to find that the crt and cell shaders are among my favorites when the option to smooth out polygons and reduce pixilation exist. That being said I appreciate that realism exists too and I don’t want to see it disappear entirely. Just that like you said games should be selected more thoughtfully for the implementation.
